The Wash High
Prexies have had their best year in the past 3, third times a
charm they
always say, but the way to the play-offs wasn't
an easy task. They kicked off their season with two great wins
27-8 @ Clairton and 13-9 against Kittanning. Going into the conference
games Wash High had very high hopes. Their first loss was to Jeannette,
at their home field, due to shotty calls and an underestimated
defense and offense. It was a very difficult thing to lose the
first conference game of the season, but they weren't done.
Wash High came
back to beat Southmoreland in a two day bout, caused by an unexpected
storm, 67-0. After a long, grueling week of practice the Prexies
were ready to face Greensburg Central Catholic at their home,
or so they thought. G.C.C. came out to win the game unopposed
31-0, crushing the Prexie's Pride. The two losses that the Prexies
had endured only made them stronger. Wash High came back to win
four straight games which they considered to be play-off games,
they couldn't lose another if they still wanted to go to the play-offs.
Wash High beat Waynesburg 28-13, East Allegheny 49-6, Brownsville
47-7 and McGuffey 7-0.
With the defeat
of McGuffey, Wash High's hometown rival, it sent them soaring
into the play-offs. Wash High ended up having to play Aliquippa
in the dreaded Pit. Aliquippa lost the Pit that night to the only
team that deserved it, Wash High. With a familiar score 7-0 Wash
High was sent in to the quarterfinals to play Seton-La Salle at
Elizabeth Forward. With a long, grueling and heartfelt battle
Wash high left Elizabeth Forward losing 35-7 ending their run
in the 2005 Play-offs.
